Daniel Agger

Profile
Talented Denmark international centre-back who made the switch from Brondby on a four-and-a-half-year deal in January 2006. Described in his homeland as 'one of the best centre-halves in Denmark for 20 years', Reds boss Rafael Benitez had been tracking the youngster for several months before securing his signature. Agger is composed, good in the air and displays excellent positional awareness. Scored his first Barclays Premiership goal against West Ham United at Anfield on August 26, 2006 - a left-footed thunderbolt from fully 35 yards that found the top corner and left Roy Carroll with no chance.
