Steven Gerrard

Profile
An essential midfield presence for club and country with a knack for scoring spectacular goals. Athletic, forceful and creative, captain Gerrard is instrumental to Liverpool's success and he was voted PFA Player of the Year by his fellow professionals after a superb 2005/06 season, having signed a new four-year deal in the summer of 2005. He made his Premier League debut against Blackburn Rovers in November 1998 and has already enjoyed much success at Anfield, culminating in lifting the European Cup for his home city in Istanbul in 2005. Has also emerged as one of England's key players and will doubtless be a fixture in the international side for years to come. He made his 400th appearance for the Liverpool in 2007.
