Joined the Gunners from Southampton in January 2006 in a deal worth up to £12million, shattering the record fee paid for a 16-year-old. His phenomenal pace and natural goalscoring instinct had set the Coca-Cola Championship alight, persuading Arsene Wenger to swoop for him after just 23 senior appearances for the Saints, which yielded four goals. Became England's youngest international when he appeared as a substitute in the friendly against Hungary in May 2006 and was part of the World Cup squad in Germany. Scored his first goal for the Gunners on the fitting stage of the 2007 Carling Cup final against Chelsea.Having scored a hattrick for England against Crotia people were suprised that he was left out of the squad for the 2010 world cup. Starting the 10/11 season with 4 goals in 3 games Walcott has hushed his doubters.
