His phenomenal pace and natural goalscoring instinct had set the Coca-Cola Championship alight, persuading Arsene Wenger to swoop for him after just 23 senior appearances for the Saints, which yielded four goals. Became England's youngest international when he appeared as a substitute in the friendly against Hungary in May 2006 and was part of the World Cup squad in Germany.
